Paul Banta
Camp Director, Paul Banta coached Coastal Carolina University from 1984-1997 before retiring from college soccer. His record was 165 wins, 14 ties and 89 losses. He won seven league titles and two NCAA tournament appearances and developed a starting N.A.I.A. program to be a NCAA Division 1 nationally ranked program. Many of his players have gone on to coach and play professionally at the international and national levels.
He has coached youth, college, and semi-pro soccer both on the international and national levels winning over 650 matches since 1968. He is an international soccer coaching educator, author of a 'GSM International Coaching Manual' and 'Coaching Soccer with Passion and Purpose'. He is working on two more books called 'Success to Significance in The Game' and the other a Daily Players and Coaches Devotional'.
He is presently, the President/ Founder and CEO of Global Soccer Ministries International, which work with at risk poor youth in Jamaica and Guatemala and other countries in the future. He is the CEO of EcoSport Turf Systems which raise funds for GSM Intentionality.
Coastal Carolina Soccer Academy and Camps assists in supporting this Global Soccer Ministries International, which operates soccer academy program, outreach soccer activities, soccer camps, soccer league teams and coaching education programs in a Holistic/Christian Soccer Ministry atmosphere.
As part of this ministry we take USA high school and university soccer teams, churches, college and adult groups to overseas ministry trips and soccer tours to not only play the game but to assist our ministry/humanitarian efforts at our GSM Academy Training Centers or to work in our local outreach ministry programs.
Coach Banta has served with the Guyana Football Federation, Jamaican Football Federation and Belize Football Federation as a clinician in National Coaching Courses. Under GSM programs Coach Banta coaches soccer education courses in the countries where GSM is active. He has played soccer at the High School, Club, College and Professional levels and holds U.S.S.F. C, B, A and Y National licenses and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Physical Education.
Joel Banta

Is the Assistant Camp Director, Assists in directing the Youth Development Team Camp and Director of Camp Special Activities allowing for our campers to have and enjoyable stay beyond soccer. Operates and director all of CCSC Day camps. Presently Director of Coaching at Coast Football Alliance, Former Head Soccer Coach of Myrtle Beach High School Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer Programs, coaches for Coast FA, former SURF SC U- 18 Boys and Girls coach, coached at Low Country Day School, JV soccer coach at Socastee. Holds USSF National Licenses; Played at Coastal Carolina University and in 1995 appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Played for Coastal Soccer Club and was on the U-16 State Champions, U-19 2nd place team, SC ODP state and regional team player and played HS at Waccamaw HS and top 50 players in SC.
Cliff Talbot

Ex-professional Blackpool FC, Tranmere Rovers and Wigan Athletic FC. Lancashire representative side, played for Skelmersdale United FC captaining the club for 5 years and Maghull FC and Bootle FC. Played in Germany, France, and Holland. Coaches and managed first and reserve teams for Skelmersdale Utd. FC. Coach Lancashire representative sides. Cliff holds a Full FA coaching badge and a UEFA B Coaching licenses with a degree and certificates in Sport Management. Head Coach of Skelmersdale United FC and coaches international for the Bolton Wanders FC around the world.
Reggie Pierre-Jerome
Director of our Goalkeeping Academy
Ex-professional with Miami Fusion, Ft Lauderdale Strikers and Miami Breakers. First Round Draft choice of Dallas Sidekicks and played with Charleston Battery of the A League. International play with Haitian National Team, USA National Team and Paris FC in France. Ex-pro for our National Team Keeper for the USA National Beach Sand Soccer Team. Played at Coastal Carolina University as starting keeper for three years. Has been Assistant Coach at Coastal Carolina University and Barry University. Presently on the coaching staff of Florida International University and director of the goalkeeping program at Weston Soccer Club in Florida. He has served as the Head Goalkeeper Trainer for the National Haitian Soccer Team. Holds BS and M.Ed. in education and NSCAA National Goalkeeping License Reggie also owns and operates his on goalkeeping academy and is owner of Goalkeeping 'The Reggie Way' . He is one the premier goalkeeper trainer in the USA.
John O'Byrne
John is a Full FA and UEFA 'A' Licensed Coach. He is an FA Coaching Educator and is the owner of Post to Post School and operates the Park Lane College Tutor NVQ Football Educational Scheme. John's football career started off with Leeds City Boys, Leeds United, St. Ann RC School and Leeds FA U-17 side as a youth. He went on later to play professionally with Farsley Celtics, Yorkshire Amateurs, Guiseley, Carlton and the All Yorkshire Leagues Club. John has coached at Leeds United in their football development scheme, U-16 team manager/coach, Leeds United Center of Excellence, Sheffield United U-15/16/17, East End Park WMC, FA Center Director Independent C/E for pro clubs. He has coached goalkeepers programs for New College Pontefract, Rothwell Town and Morley Spurs. John's enthusiastic and positive approach to the game as been great for the teams that come to our camp. This is John's 12th year with CCSC.
Martyn Lancaster
Martyn been playing professionally for 6 years. He started at Chester City FC leaving school at 16 to make his pro debut at 17 for the first team. Went on to play 200 league games as a Central Defender. Played for Leigh R.M.I FC were I went on to play 50 games. Currently is signed with Northwitch Victoria FC. Played International for England at under 23 Men's National Team and was on loan at Aston Villa FC when he was 19 years old. Martyn holds a UEFA 'B' coaching badge and coached for the last 5 years working at Cheshire College working with College teams as well as coaching at Chester City's FC Academy teams.
Chris Daly
Ex-professional with Arsenal FC. Has coached with Merseyside Representative Teams and with Everton FC in their Academy. FA and UEFA A licensed coach who has been chosen to bring youth teams from the UK to the Dallas Cup. Chris's knowledge of the game far exceeds his peers and he brings to our program a great honesty about the game and he teaches football to the teams he coaches in a simply way to get them playing tactically very fast. Chris also is one of our Striker/Attacker Camp Directors.
Paul Dodd
F.A. Coach, F.A. Teachers Award and U.S.S.F. National Coaching License. Played with Manchester United FC, Arsenal FC and Nottingham Forest FC pro-youth teams, captained the Full England Under 18 side. Represented his city and county championship teams from ages 11-19 years before playing professionally. Played at Lander University and was All American. Has coached in the UK and won a High School State championship. This is Paul's 11th year at camp. Paul has been on the Lander University coaching staff and is the Director of Coaching at Greenwood Torros SC.
Gary Winchester
Holds three Scottish Football Association Level Coaching badges (E.D.C) and a USSF National D, C , B and A Coaching License. Played for Heart of Midlothian and Dunfermline FC in the Scottish Premier League, Cowdenbeath FC (Scottish 3rd), Gala Fairydean FC (semi-pro). Gary has coached youth football in Scotland and the USA. Gary is presently on the Coaching staff at Greensville Toros Soccer Club and Head Coach of the Women's Soccer Team at Erskine University in South Carolina.
Gary is an Assistant Director of Coastal Carolina Socer Camps.
Joe Doyle
Joe is an ex-professional player for Everton FC in the English Premiership. He holds a Full FA and UEFA 'A' Coach license. He is presently a full time coach at Everton’s Academy Youth Program and has worked in their School of Excellence Program through out the Merseyside area. He has worked for UK Adidas in promoting football throughout the England and Scotland in their Youth Development Programs. Joe coaches the Everton U-15 Boys side.
Stephen Galen
Steve is an ex-Irish Men’s National Team Player with the U-18 and U-21 teams. He holds a full FA and UEFA ‘A’ coaching license. He has played professionally with Queens Park Rangers, Doncaster Rovers and has played in China, Hong Kong, and Ireland. He is presently on the Coaching Staff for Q.P.R.’s Football Youth Academy and coaches the U-18 Boys side young professional players. Steve is also the Head Coach for Aylesbury United FC one of the top Semi-professional sides in the UK and runs his own football youth training academy youth program.
David Hendry
David holds a UEFA ‘B’ Coaching License with the Scottish Football Association. He has coached Celtic FC U-18 Coach, Rangers FC, Stirling Albion FC, Falkirk & Forth Valley SFA Development Squads, Falkirk Football Club Youth Academy U16 Head Coach, Victorian Soccer Federation (Australia), Escolinha de Fluminese (Brazil), Scottish Institute of Sport U19 Football Squad and Scottish F.A. U17 International Football Squad. He has held the position with Scottish FA Football as a Development Officer. David has played his professional at East Stirlingshire FC, Youth team player Celtic FC and Dundee United FC. Played for Scotland International Team U-14-16. He holds a BSc. in Sport & Exercise Science from Napier University, Scotland.
Peter Dennison - GK Staff
Peter holds Scottish Football Association Goalkeeping License Highest Diploma (level 5) and a SFA ‘Working with Children’ License Diploma (level 5). He has played through school and university and played professional with Dumbarton Football Club as a goalkeeper. He is a Coaching Educator delivering goalkeeper courses for the Scottish Football Association as a Coach Education Tutor. Presently Goalkeeping Football Coach with Glasgow Rangers Football Club and all Elite Youth Academy and Senior players and has coached Football with West Dunbartonshire Council Football Association. Peter is permanent university lecturer for Sports Coaching at Glasgow Metropolitan College and held a similar position at Glasgow College Coaching with Sports Development. He holds a Bsc in Sports Coaching at Bell College, Scotland.
Martyn Bell
Martyn holds a UEFA Coaching License and has played professional for Middlesbrough FC and Hartlepool United FC. He represented England on the National level playing for the Men’s Under 18 National Youth Team. He went on to play for Middlesbrough College in the UK and played at Lander University in the USA. He has coached high school and club soccer. Martyn has been on our camp staff for 3 years.
Kevin Wilson
Kevin holds a UEFA 'B' Coaching Certificate and is presently on the coaching staff at Los Gauchos Soccer Club in CA. This is his second summer of camps with us and we are excited to have him return. He has coaches at semi-professional Emberton Football Club in the UK and with Manchester United Soccer Schools (Premiership Team) scouting and coaching youth players for Man Utd. Kevin a graduate with a degree in Football Science from Liverpool John Moores University He went on to coaching the University Women’s first team to the National Championship at the university level. He has also coached and managed Liverpool County Schools Program with the Liverpool Schools representative team where the best girls from within the school district were picked to play for their county against the best school teams from around the country.
Jack Thompson
Jack is an Ex-professional USL player in the USA and Assistant Coach. He holds a UEFA B Coaching license and an FA English Coaching Certificate Level 1 and 2. He played in USA at the University level at Lander University and was a four year starter where he graduated in Sport Management. This will be Jack’s 6th year with us.Jack has played professional in the USA and the UK.
Michael Davis
Michael holds a UEFA C caching license and an FA level 1 and 2 Coaching Certificate. He holds a USSF C and B National Badges. He has played for Macclesfield Town FC; Stockport FC; Radcliff Borough FC playing in the North of England Premier Division; Manchester County F.A U19 side and New Mills F.C. in the North West County Div 2.
His coaching background is with Premier Football Coaching Schools in the UK who are affiliated with development centers for Crewe Alexandra and have affiliations with Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Manchester United and further with Manchester United Soccer Schools. This is Michaels 5th camp season with us.
Matt Thorne
Matt is part of our goalkeeping staff and he is in his 4th camp season. He is presently the Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach at Auburn University Montgomery following a highly successful career at Martin Methodist College. He hold a national C and B USSF Coaching Badges. He has a Football Association of Ireland (FAI) Level 1 Coaching Badge.
Matt played in the goal for the Red Hawks and was the team captain his senior season. He was an All-Conference honoree for three seasons in the tough Trans South Conference and was a member of the 2004 conference champions. Following his senior season he was named Honorable Mention. Matt is a University All-America and NAIA All-Region while at university in the USA.
In 2008 Matt played semi-professionally in the Icelandic 2nd Division with IH Hafnarfjordur. He played for a Div 2 team in Iceland. He played and coached for the PDL for the Palm Beach Pumas in the summer of 2006 and was also a coach. Originally from Rush, County Dublin, Ireland, Thorne attended Colaiste Ide (Dublin), where he received the “Achiever of the Year” award in 2002.
He has successfully completed such courses as association football (soccer) and career management while at Colaiste Ide. He played soccer with Home Farm football club and represented Ireland with Colaiste Ide College while playing in a tournament in Memphis,
Tennessee.
Matt holds a M.B.A- Masters of Business Administration from Auburn University Montgomery- Montgomery, AL and Bachelor of Science in Business and Sport Management from Martin Methodist College- Pulaski, TN
Adam Hall
Adam is presently on the coaching staff at Wesley College Women’s Soccer. He holds United States Soccer Federation National Licenses and Scottish Football Association License Level one through three. Adam attended Martin Methodist College on a 4 Year Soccer Scholarship having earned this from playing his earlier career in Scotland. His playing background in Scotland is at Arbroath Football Club, Arbroath Victoria Football Club, Brechin City Victoria Football Club, Martin Methodist College Men’s Soccer and Rocket City United Men’s Professional Soccer. Adam has been an assistant coach at Martin Methodist College, player coach at the Rocket City United of the USL and for the youth club Columbia Fury Club. He has been on the Alabama Youth Soccer Association Coaching Staff. Adam has degrees in Sport Management, Physical Education and Education and has been on our camp coaching staff since 2006.
